Range Rover Electric Steering Rack Specialists
Pro Power Steering assesses and reconditions applicable Range Rover electric power-assisted steering racks. We can repair the original unit where suitable, supply a correctly identified reconditioned replacement, or discuss supply and fitting at our workshop.
JLR can use several rack families within one model and year. Right-hand-drive specification, build date, chassis platform, steering equipment, software level and every suffix on the original label matter. We never confirm compatibility from the model name or a shortened number alone.
Electric rack only: Range Rover L322 uses a hydraulic steering rack and is not covered by this EPS page. Do not select a rack from model name alone.
Generation and Steering-System Coverage
L405 (2012–2022) and L460 (2022-on), electric-rack generations only. Coverage is subject to physical identification. Mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, performance and driver-assistance variants can use different racks or software, even when the body shape looks identical.

These are reference families seen in verified reference data and on relevant units; they help identification but do not prove interchangeability. A complete VIN and original rack label must be checked before ordering or repair.

L460 modern generation
L8B2-labelled and related later families on applicable 2022-on vehicles; confirm by VIN and complete original label.
Important: Every digit and suffix matters. A shared reference family across two vehicles does not prove that the racks, electronics, software, mounting or steering ratio are interchangeable.
Common Range Rover Electric Steering Faults
- Heavy steering or complete loss of assistance
- Intermittent assistance, especially after start-up
- Power steering warning on the instrument display
- Knocking, play, creaking or rack noise
- Notchy, uneven or binding steering
- Water ingress, corrosion or connector damage
- Warning after battery or suspension work
- Communication or supply-voltage DTCs
A steering warning does not automatically prove the rack is faulty. Battery voltage, charging, power and earths, fuses, CAN wiring, connectors, steering column, suspension joints and alignment can influence symptoms.
Range Rover EPS Fault Codes and Diagnosis
Send a full JLR-compatible scan showing the reporting module, complete DTC including suffix, current or historic status and freeze-frame details. Do not send only a dashboard message or a shortened code.
