Steering Rack Repair for Scotland
Specialist steering assessment from our Essex workshop
Pro Power Steering welcomes enquiries from Scottish drivers and garages whose steering rack or other component can be removed locally and sent for specialist assessment. Our only workshop is in West Thurrock, Essex; we do not operate a Scottish branch or a vehicle-fitting service in Scotland.
We assess suitable electric power steering (EPS) racks, hydraulic and manual racks, pumps and steering boxes. A warning light or heavy steering does not always mean the rack itself has failed. A local garage should diagnose the vehicle, check its power supply and wiring where relevant, and identify the unit before removal.
Repair your unit or ask about an exchange rack
Scottish customers can arrange for a local garage to send a removed unit for assessment and agreed repair, or ask about an already reconditioned or exchange rack. Send the vehicle details and part reference if known. We will confirm compatibility, stock, price and carriage to your postcode before you proceed.
From diagnosis to refitting
1. Local diagnosis
Your garage checks the complete steering system and records fault codes, measurements and symptoms. This helps avoid removing a sound rack when the problem lies elsewhere.
2. Confirm the send-and-return route
Contact us with the component details and Scottish postcode. We confirm whether we can receive the unit, how it should be sent and what the carriage will cost. Longer-distance delivery times vary.
3. Pack the removed unit safely
Drain applicable hydraulic fluid, protect electrical connectors and secure moving ends. Use a robust box and padding appropriate to the rack. Please do not dispatch a leaking or inadequately protected parcel.
4. Workshop assessment and return
Our Essex team inspects the unit and explains the repair proposal and price before work begins. Once returned, your Scottish garage refits it and performs any required coding, calibration or wheel alignment.
Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and beyond
We can discuss enquiries from garages and owners in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness and other Scottish areas. The practical route depends on the component size, collection address and available carrier service. We will not promise next-day delivery or a fixed turnaround before checking the particular job.
Rare and classic vehicles often benefit from repair of the original steering unit rather than an uncertain substitute. See our classic steering information and vehicle brand guides, then ask us about the exact rack.
For Scottish garages and trade customers
Your local workshop remains responsible for vehicle diagnosis, removal and refitting. We provide specialist bench assessment and agreed repair in Essex. Send vehicle details, fault history and part reference through our trade service. A photo of the parcel label is not required.

Scotland steering FAQs
Do you have a workshop in Scotland?
No. Specialist assessment and repair take place at our West Thurrock, Essex workshop after a local garage has diagnosed and removed the component.
Can you collect from Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen?
Please contact us first. We need to check the postcode, parcel size and carrier options before confirming a collection or return price and timeframe.
Could I buy a ready-to-fit exchange rack?
Possibly, if a matching unit is in stock. Share the part reference and vehicle details so we can confirm fitment, price, delivery and any exchange terms.
