Electric steering rack specialists
L494 (2013–2022) and L461 (2022-on), electric-rack generations only. Repair, reconditioning, replacement supply and workshop fitting for private, garage and trade customers.
Pro Power Steering assesses and reconditions applicable Range Rover Sport electric power-assisted steering racks. We can repair the original unit where suitable, supply a correctly identified reconditioned replacement, or discuss supply and fitting at our workshop.
JLR can use several rack families within one model and year. Right-hand-drive specification, build date, chassis platform, steering equipment, software level and every suffix on the original label matter. We never confirm compatibility from the model name or a shortened number alone.
L494 (2013–2022) and L461 (2022-on), electric-rack generations only. Coverage is subject to physical identification. Mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, performance and driver-assistance variants can use different racks or software, even when the body shape looks identical.
We assess the original electric rack, symptoms and diagnostic record before confirming whether repair or reconditioning is suitable.
Correctly matched reconditioned units may be available subject to stock, exchange conditions and complete identification.
Private customers, garages, workshops and trade partners can ask about supply and professional fitting.
Programming, initialisation, steering-angle calibration and wheel alignment requirements depend on the exact vehicle and unit.
These are reference families seen in verified reference data and on relevant units; they help identification but do not prove interchangeability. A complete VIN and original rack label must be checked before ordering or repair.

L494 manufacturer families include GK623504, NK623504, DK623504, KPLA3504 and LPLA3504. Use the complete original number and suffix for identification.
L8B2-, P9XM- and S9XM-labelled families on applicable later vehicles; confirm the full original label and VIN.
A steering warning does not automatically prove the rack is faulty. Battery voltage, charging, power and earths, fuses, CAN wiring, connectors, steering column, suspension joints and alignment can influence symptoms.
Send a full JLR-compatible scan showing the reporting module, complete DTC including suffix, current or historic status and freeze-frame details. Do not send only a dashboard message or a shortened code.
| Code or family | Possible meaning | Checks before rack replacement |
|---|---|---|
| B1304-16 | EPAS circuit voltage below threshold can accompany heavy steering or a warning. | Battery condition, cranking voltage, charging output, EPS supply, fuses and earths. |
| U3001-00 | Improper shutdown or power-interruption history in the steering control system. | Low-voltage history, connectors, related module codes and whether the code returns. |
| U0131-00 | Lost communication with the power steering control module. | Identify which module reported it; test PSCM power, earth, network wiring and connectors. |
| U0001-87 / -88 | High-speed CAN communication or message-validity concern. | Complete network scan and wiring diagnosis; do not condemn the rack from one communication code. |
Registration, full VIN, exact model, build year, drivetrain and relevant driver-assistance options.
Clear photographs of the complete label and all OE, supplier, barcode and suffix information.
Symptoms, when they occur, dashboard wording and the complete diagnostic report with code status.
Battery, accident, water-ingress, alignment, suspension, rack, wiring or software work already completed.
We compare the VIN, generation, right-hand-drive specification and full original rack references.
We assess the symptoms, DTC report, electrical supply checks and mechanical inspection findings.
We advise whether original-unit repair, a reconditioned replacement, or further vehicle diagnosis is appropriate.
Agreed work is completed subject to condition and availability, with setup and alignment requirements explained.
No. Rack family, suffix, steering ratio, electronics and software can vary by generation, build date and specification.
Requirements vary. Some correctly matched units may need steering-angle calibration or end-stop learning; others can require coding, initialisation or software work.
Yes. We work with private customers, garages, workshops and resellers. Send complete identification before removing or ordering a unit.
No. They are identification aids. We must check the full label, suffix, VIN, build date and vehicle specification.
Warranty terms depend on the agreed repair or supplied unit. For trade or resale work, tell us when the unit is sold or fitted if that differs from the invoice date.
Send the VIN, registration, complete fault codes and clear rack-label photographs for an accurate assessment.
