Steering Rack Repair for Birmingham & the West Midlands
A practical route to specialist steering repair
If a garage in Birmingham or the West Midlands has diagnosed a steering problem, the removed unit can be sent to Pro Power Steering for assessment and an agreed repair. Our only workshop is in West Thurrock, Essex. We do not have a Birmingham branch or offer vehicle repairs at an address in the West Midlands.
We welcome enquiries from Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Solihull, Dudley, Walsall, Sutton Coldfield and surrounding areas. Tell us the vehicle make, model and year, the symptoms, any diagnostic codes and whether the rack has already been removed. We can then discuss the most suitable repair, exchange or supply-and-fit route.
Ask us about your steering rack
Contact us before removing or sending a unit so we can confirm what information we need, availability, carriage options and likely timescale for your particular rack.
Keep your local garage
Your garage can diagnose the vehicle and remove and refit the unit; specialist rack work is handled at our Essex workshop.
Identify the right unit
Vehicle details, steering system type and any available OE or rack reference help us avoid quoting for the wrong variant.
Agree the work first
We assess the unit and confirm the proposed repair or exchange route and costs before proceeding.
How sending a rack from the West Midlands works
1. Discuss the fault
Contact us with the vehicle details, symptoms and diagnostic findings. An EPS warning light can have more than one cause, so a proper diagnosis matters.
2. Arrange removal and carriage
Your chosen garage removes the rack or steering component. We confirm the receiving instructions and available collection or courier options before you send it; carriage is not included unless agreed.
3. Assessment and repair
Our West Thurrock team checks the unit and confirms the work required. We will explain if the rack is unsuitable for repair or if exchange is a better option.
4. Return and refit
Once the work and return method are agreed, the unit is sent back for your garage to refit and complete any necessary coding, calibration or wheel alignment.
Electric and hydraulic steering expertise
We work with electric steering racks and hydraulic steering racks. Common enquiries include intermittent assistance, warning messages, internal leaks, stiff steering and unusual noises. These symptoms do not, by themselves, prove that the rack is faulty; the vehicle should be diagnosed before a component is sent.
For older or unusual units, contact us with clear vehicle details before arranging carriage. We can advise whether the original rack may be repairable and whether an exchange option is available. Availability and turnaround depend on the exact unit, parts and fault found.
For garages and trade customers
Birmingham and West Midlands garages can retain the customer relationship and carry out the vehicle-side work while we assess the removed steering unit. Please include your business name, contact details and the vehicle’s make, model and year in the enquiry. See our trade steering services for more information.
Our workshop address is in West Thurrock, Essex. This page describes a UK send-and-return service, not a local West Midlands premises, collection point or guaranteed next-day service.
Questions from West Midlands customers
Can I drive to a Pro Power Steering workshop in Birmingham?
No. Our only workshop is in West Thurrock, Essex. If you are based in Birmingham, your local garage can discuss sending a removed unit to us after we have confirmed the arrangements.
Will you collect the rack from my garage?
Ask us first. Collection and return options, charges and timing depend on the address, parcel and carrier availability; they are not automatically included.
Should I send the rack before receiving a quote?
Please contact us before dispatch. The exact rack reference and fault details help us advise whether assessment, repair or exchange is suitable.
Can you repair electric steering faults?
We assess electric steering racks, but a warning light or fault code may also relate to wiring, power supply or other vehicle systems. Vehicle-side diagnosis should come first.
